Vasilopita the Lucky recipe
750 grams flour 200 grams butter 260 g caster sugar 3 eggs 100 g fresh milk 25 grams of cognac 2 tablespoons fresh orange zest 25 grams machlepi well threshed 1 pinch vanilla 1 sachet baking powder 60 g walnuts peeled pomegranates for decoration cherries for decoration
Pour into the bowl of your mixer the butter with the sugar and beat well until mixture is fluffy well.
In a bowl beat together the eggs with the milk and brandy. Then pour the egg mixture into the blender and still beat the butter and sugar.
Add the orange zest, the machlepi and vanilla. Leave the mixer to continue working.
In a bowl, stir flour with baking powder and walnuts. The mix well with hands. Pour flour mixture into the mixer and continue beating until it forms a thick dough. Stop the mixer.
Grease a round baking pan well with a diameter of 40 cm, pour the mixture into the straightening well with a spatula to spread everywhere.
Bake the pie for 45 to 180 minutes.
To remove from the oven, let it cool, remove from the pan and sprinkle with icing sugar.
Garnish putting cherries in the center of the New Year cake. All around the platter put pomegranate seeds. |
